Art Talk: An Artistic Adventure: Relief Printing & Street Art of Oaxaca, Mexico

Join Sarah Fahey in the Penticton Art Gallery’s Tea Room from 2-3pm for a free artist talk during the Ignite the Arts Festival where she will talk of her recent trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Oaxaca, Mexico is a vibrant city with a rich artistic history and strong Indigenous roots. The city walls and buildingsare covered in hand painted signs, printed advertisements and notices, murals and graffiti. From the inside of many ‘talleres’ print workshops, the tradition of relief printing continues; prints are wheat pasted on the city walls, printed on paper, t-shirts, bags, and stickers. Learn about opportunities for young artists, 19+ who are interested in international art exchanges to Oaxaca, Mexico.

About Sarah: Sarah Fahey has a diploma in Writing and Publishing from Okanagan College, Vernon, BC. For over a decade she has facilitated school age mural workshops in the South Okanagan. Currently, Sarah is completing a certificate in early Childhood Education and hopes to create children’s book this year.

See the work of art Sarah and TAC created in person!
