FEATURED ARTIST - PegGie Collins

Peggie is an acrylic artist best known for her punchy use of color, bold subject matter and composition. Encouraged by her mother, influenced by her artist grandmother, and with determination, commitment and desire she has developed confidence in her abilities and continually pushes herself to improve. Over the years Peggie has always been filled with ideas and a desire to be creative. She has experimented in many mediums and taught many classes in Naramata and Penticton.

It wasn’t until her mother’s death and a series of other life changing events that she took up painting with determination. She worked with an artist whose work she loved and for a short while received regular instruction from her. This artist was a wonderful inspiration and Peggie was greatly encouraged by her. From there, as her life allowed, she painted more and more.

Peggie was fortunate that during her many years as a Recreation Assistant in long term care facilities she was able to bring her passion for art to the residents. She focused on mentoring the residents to improve their quality of life and from this coordinated two very successful art shows showcasing the works of the long term care residents. Teaching is something Peggie has always enjoyed and she especially loves working with the elderly.

Peggie retired in 2020 with the objective of pursuing her painting fulltime. She has opened her own gallery “Gallery One twenty-seven” in Penticton. Her first successful show included 100 mini memories of her cross Canada travel adventure and then following that in 2022 she completed her 100 shoes for Mental Health Project which included donating a portion of each shoe painting sale to local Mental Health in Penticton.

Peggie feels blessed to be able to combine her painting with her love of travel and share her stories of beauty and discovery through her brush on canvas.
