ARTIST BIO

“Located in the Kootenay Mountains of Grand Forks British Columbia, I practice my art in my magical studio space in the Historic Davis building in its 1900-century Ballroom. Along with my home studio space.  I was born in New Westminster, British Columbia.  My art influences are Emily Carr, Frida Kahlo, Sue Hoya Sellars, Caron McCloud, and Shiloh Sophia McCloud.  I have been studying with Shiloh Sophia since my first painting, a 16x20 acrylic on canvas back in 2019.  Since then I completed over 5 certification courses through Musea Centre for Creativity.  Each of these courses included multiple paintings and processes which has helped me grow into my Artist self.  My go-to medium is layered acrylic on canvas along with mixed media painting & journaling and watercolour painting and paper.  I also enjoy paper and markers to express images with language in my journaling.”

ARTIST STATEMENT

“Through my work, I am looking to encourage and inspire folks into the space of Possibility.  To remove old limiting beliefs and step into a space of wonder and joy.  My work has helped me in these components and I want to share my experiences through creativity with others.  Through the use of images and language to move stagnant thoughts and beliefs.   I view the creative process as a perspective and a catalyst for change. Through the act of creating with openness and intention, I have shifted my outlook and moved some very deep-rooted stuff and embedded old stories that had been holding me back. I can attest that this way of creating has improved my mental health and outlook on life.  I have created pieces that help in shifting my old way of being with myself and released the restriction of imposed beliefs from suppressive systems. My work is a feeling and an experience. Through the use of Intentional Creativity, and Medicine painting, we can control our trajectory and empower ourselves beyond the conditional norms.  Forget thinking outside the box, let's begin by forging new pathways of being away from the conditional response.”
