This exhibition explores the creative pieces and art work made by individuals living with mental illness. The experience of mental illness is one of the most profound and often misunderstood of all human conditions. It can be both difficult to comprehend and hard to express. Sometimes a person has to find other, creative forms rather than words. This exhibition aims to promote a greater understanding of people who experience mental illness and/or psychological trauma, and to foster an appreciation of their creativity through the preservation and ethical presentation of their original works. Please join us of the opening reception and exhibition discussion with Mark Welch, Program Manager, Acute Mental Health, South Okanagan Region Interior Health. The exhibition coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week, October 5-11, 2008.
