As you may know, it is Canada's 150th anniversary next year, and the government of Canada is celebrating with their nationwide Canada 150 initiative. This will be the largest, collaborative project in Canada, and TIFF will be taking part with our programme called Canada on Screen.
Canada on Screen is an unprecedented project to identify, restore, and screen a list of the 150 essential moving-image works from Canada's history based on a national poll of industry professionals. Taking place throughout 2017, the programme will consist of installations, special events, special guests, and an extensive online catalogue.
And this is where you, Film Circuit, come into play: we are mounting 150 free screenings of classic Canadian Film Circuit titles selected from the master list of 150 works, taking place in communities across the country on Reel Canada's National Canadian Film Day: April 19, 2017….we are aiming to announce around 8 classic Film Circuit gems from the total list of 150 that you will be able to choose from….
When the list arrived we were thrilled to see that one of the film gems which had made the final cut was Okanagan director Sandy Wilson’s My American Cousin, which was filmed in Penticton and Naramata. But of course that was our choice!
It will be screened on Wednesday, April 19th, 4pm and 7pm, at Landmark Cinemas
