Elsie Crompton

Elsie May Crompton

This painting, donated to the Penticton Art Gallery by the Courtenay and District Museum, was originally a gift to the latter society from M. Cecil Fowler. The artist and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Edward Crompton, lived in Courtenay prior to World War I. Their 3 children were born in Courtenay - Nancy (b. 1912), Legh (b. 1913) and Janet (c. 1915 or 1916). The Crompton family also lived in Parksville and Peachland where Elsie would have painted this landscape of Okanagan Lake.
