Barbara Holden, 1902-?

This work was chosen for the Show Committee Permanent Collection and donated by an anonymous donor in 1968.

Barbara Holden was born on December 30, 1902 in England, but was raised in Victoria, BC. She moved to Penticton in 1933. In 1953, she took a two-year correspondence course in commercial art and then arts at the Okanagan Summer School of the Arts. Her work, which is always painted very fluidly, is usually ink collage, sometimes combined with wax. The works has been shown in the valley and Vancouver in juried and group shows with several honourable mentions. A show of her work with that of fellow artist, Muriel Ferley, was held at the arts centre in 1968.
